Meet Our Friendly Physical Therapists in Flagstaff

At The Physio Shop in Flagstaff, it’s our mission to help each patient and athlete feel better, get better, and do more—all while having fun in a welcoming, friendly environment. We are a clinician-first clinic. We prioritize the happiness and well-being of our team members, and in turn, this empowers our team to take excellent care of our patients and ensure they have a great experience. Our clinicians genuinely enjoy working at our Flagstaff physical therapy clinic because their work is meaningful, our patients are fantastic, and we have great team chemistry. When you step inside The Physio Shop, you’ll meet the following friendly faces.

Flagstaff Team

Jason Dorsch

PT, DPT, ATC

Dr. Dorsch has been working with athletes throughout his career. He started out as a certified athletic trainer (ATC) working with high school athletes in Mesa, AZ. Later, he joined the Athletic Training and Sports Medicine team of the Arizona Rattlers Arena Football team. He has also treated athletes at Northern Arizona University (NAU), working with the basketball, football, swimming, tennis, and cross country teams.

As much as he enjoyed being an athletic trainer, Jason decided to pursue additional qualifications in order to better serve the needs of his patients. As a physical therapist in Flagstaff, Jason realized that he could provide a greater breadth of care services. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree at NAU. That allowed him to accept a position at a neurological and orthopedic clinic, where he acquired the additional credential of Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR) clinician.

When Jason joined our physical therapy clinic, he brought with him an enduring commitment to effect meaningful change in the lives of patients and athletes, empowering them to live up to their true potential. Jason established the integrative, holistic vision of our physical therapy program, drawing from the traditional approach of the European model. He is also committed to furthering the field by training the next generation of physical therapists. Jason mentors undergraduates and DPT candidates at our clinic, and teaches physical therapy at NAU. He also practices occupational physical therapy at W.L Gore, and spends his spare time volunteering for the Flagstaff Pro Rodeo, and the Landshark and CobraFist rugby teams.

Kelsey Andrist

PT, DPT

Dr. Andrist first became interested in physical therapy while playing D2 basketball at Winona State University in Minnesota. During her time training as an athlete, she became interested in how to optimally perform at sports, and how to support injury prevention in order to stay on the court. After completing her BS in Kinesiology, Kelsey went to NAU’s prestigious College of Physical Therapy, where she completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in May 2017. Kelsey has a specialization in hand therapy, and is certified in dry needling; however, she loves the variety of patients The Physio Shop treats. She continues to enjoy playing sports and trail running in her free time.

Benjamin Wakefield

PT, DPT

Dr. Wakefield is an active and outgoing person, who was made for the physical therapy profession, and is a natural fit at The Physio Shop. Ben decided to become a physical therapist in Flagstaff so he could be surrounded by people on a daily basis and do work that truly makes a difference in people’s lives. Ben aspires to help those around him enjoy the health and vitality that comes from living an active lifestyle. He has a special interest in manual therapy, and how human interaction can affect the body’s healing process. Ben is trained in dry needle therapy. He is also an adjunct faculty member with NAU’s Physical Therapy doctoral program, serving as a clinical advisor to the pro bono clinic on campus.

Jackson Darveaux

PT, DPT

Dr. Darveaux is an outgoing person, loves to make people laugh and enjoys living an active lifestyle, including hiking, kayaking, and snowboarding in his free time. He has an athletic background, was an All-State wrestler in high school and participated in Olympic weightlifting in the offseason to optimize physical performance and prevent injuries. Jackson loves being a positive influence in his community and currently volunteers for Coconino High School’s wrestling program. He is also the “father” of a 1-year- old Black Labrador puppy, Nox, and has been diving into the world of obedience training.
He began his career studying Kinesiology at ASU where he enjoyed learning human anatomy and biomechanics. He went on to teach anatomy labs at ASU as a Teaching Aid and loved teaching because it forced him to master the course material in order to communicate it clearly to others. His interests in strength, endurance, mobility and neuromuscular training (and their influence on rehabilitation and injury prevention) are what led him to pursue and achieve a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at NAU. He has treated patients in a variety of clinical environments, including subacute rehabilitation hospitals and outpatient sports clinics. He even completed a clinical rotation at the Physio Shop Tucson and his primary clinical interest is in sports rehabilitation.

Abbie has become a mentor to recent fitness and wellness interns, as she is a great example of education in action. Outside of the shop, Abbie is an avid figure skater, and enjoys teaching and performing on the ice.
